Groom Construction Co., Inc. is proud to partner with the North Shore Community Development Coalition (NSCDC) in the renovation of Harbor and Lafayette Homes, a 27-unit development in Salem, Massachusetts. The apartment community features the substantial rehabilitation of two low-rise residential properties located within 150 yards of one another into supportive affordable housing for formerly-homeless, low-income youth aging out of the Massachusetts foster care system and other low-income individuals.

Harbor and Lafayette Homes features 22 studio units and five one-bedroom units. Renovations included: new heating and hot water systems, new doors and windows, new kitchenettes and bathrooms, energy efficient lighting and a new common laundry room as well as community room/classroom and supportive service space. Harbor and Lafayette Homes also features a commercial space on the street level of Lafayette Street occupied by the property manager, Peabody Properties.
