Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager acts as a resource to the Project Manager(s) by assisting in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of the construction process, to help ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget.

 

This position will assist the construction department team to coordinate, communicate and execute all activities related to the projects being managed by the construction department. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Assist with the project buyout process, in accordance with company standards and timely manner, considering such factors as project schedule, submittal review process and long lead time materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate RFI’s
  • Coordinate the submittal process with the schedule, review process and material lead times.
  • Ensure that all required project documentation is completed in a timely manner, and maintained in the appropriate master project files inclusive of Daily reports, accident reports, –subcontractor logs, submittals, bulletins, drawing logs, sketches and as-built drawings
  • Assist with safety and accident reporting as required
  • Help enforce all Groom Construction Health and Safety Plan regulations.
  • Assist with the coordination of deliverables to obtain necessary permits and licenses and, depending upon the contractual arrangements, monitoring compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations
  • Assist in the tracking and cost control to avoid cost overruns
  • Coordinate, track and receive timely approval of Change Orders
  • Assist in the coordination of invoice approvals
  • Coordinate timely completion and submission of project invoices and requisitions to the client.
  • Assist in meeting minutes recording and follow-up
  • Distribute drawing revisions and address subcontractor issues
  • Assist in the assembly of close-out documents

Qualifications

  • Experience working with contracts, plans, and specifications, and knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with computers and software programs for job costing, online collaboration, scheduling and estimating. Procore experience is a plus.
  • The APM must work well under pressure, be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to coordinate several major activities at once, while analyzing and resolving specific problems, is essential, as is an understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • The APM must be able to establish a good working relationship with clients, other managers, designers, superintendents, and crew.
  • The APM will be required to visit project sites as needed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable discipline
  • 2 – 3 years construction project management experience preferred
  • OSHA 10-hr is a plus
  • LEED AP is a plus.30

Estimator - Naples, FL

The estimator will be responsible for estimating commercial and institutional construction projects in a timely manner with the ability to fully read specifications and drawings, legends, and equipment schedules, following different document iterations (schematic, construction, and permit sets). We are searching for an estimating professional that is self-motivated, extremely well organized, and accurate; excels in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment, and is capable of working in a team environment as well as taking on smaller projects individually with supervision. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with an ability to prioritize and multitask.

Responsibilities:

  • Build/Submit Proposals (Includes Budgeting, Scheduling, & Overall Approach to a Project )
  • Manage Subcontractor Invitation to Bid (ITB)
  • Scope Takeoffs
  • Subcontractor scoping/leveling
  • Perform Project Buyout & Contracting after Project Award
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive advantages in the industry to aid the bidding process
  • Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Obtain accurate quotes for materials and systems to establish accurate cost estimates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree desired in construction management, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Familiarity with blueprints and ability to read plans
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Procore, OnScreen Takeoff (OST) and Building Connected
  • 3- 5 years’ of construction experience preferred; *Willing to train the right candidate.

Project Manager - Retail Construction

Groom Construction is seeking an experienced project manager who shares in our commitment to deliver high-quality projects and strives to exceed client expectations. The Project Manager assumes primary responsibility for the overall management, completion, and financial outcome of multiple retail construction projects. The ideal candidate will be creative, self-motivating, collaborative, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Coordinating and managing all project resources through the lifecycle of the project. This includes budgets, schedules, contracts, purchase orders, trade partners, and shop drawing logs. This individual also manages risk, insurances, general work performance, and quality. Must be able to work harmoniously in a team environment with both owners and project team members.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and previous retail construction experience relative to project size/scope.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction management experience with a commercial general contracting company, including experience in the retail market.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative. Ability to quickly study and react to complex issues.
  • Some travel will be required.

Lead Carpenter - Residential

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in multi-skilled carpentry
  • Able to perform physical tasks common to lead carpenter positions (lifting items up to 100 pounds, kneeling, bending, standing, climbing, repetitive motion, use of hand tools, etc.)
  • Possess valid State Driver’s License, good driving history and dependable transportation
  • Journey level skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively to direct a crew
  • Demonstrated history of working safely and adhering to safety standards

  • Experience completing work in occupied environments
