Groom Construction collaborated with Finegold Alexander Architects on this 90,000 square-foot ground up facility on 19.5 previously undeveloped acres in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Features include an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, outdoor pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, squash courts, rock climbing tower, child care facility, gymnastic center, 4 ballet studios for the Boston Ballet, and satellite offices for Spaulding Rehabilitation Center. The team overcame extensive site issues, schedule, and budget constraints to create this much-used facility that has truly been life-changing to its soaring membership.
Lynch Van Otterloo YMCA called on Groom Construction to complete extensive renovations to their facility in Marblehead, MA. The purpose of the renovation was to create a more modern, contemporary, and user-friendly experience. Alterations to the lobby included a smaller front desk, sound baffling, a solutions suite, and a secure gated entry system. One of the major tasks of this renovation was removing an existing rock wall to create two separate spaces, each on the first and second floors.
The first floor where the rock wall once stood is now home to the new Kids Club. The second floor now houses the Functional Training room. Removing the rock wall helped create a space that members needed and helps the YMCA as an industry leader in the health and wellness industry.
