Construction Project Manager
Groom Construction, a well-respected and growing General Contractor located Salem, MA, is seeking an experienced Project Manager capable of managing commercial, multi-unit residential, and retail projects in the greater Boston area, projects range from $5M - $25M in value. Applicants must be well organized, self-motivated, schedule driven, computer literate, and have a minimum of 10 years construction industry experience.
10+ years of construction experience with 5+ years PM experience managing commercial, multi-unit residential, and/or retail projects.
Possess a proven ability with subcontract negotiation, buyout, and contract execution.
Responsible for managing the construction budget, change order process, and subcontract budgeting.
Manage and update the project’s construction schedule.
Work closely with the Project Superintendent in managing all issues related to subcontractors and coordination of trades.
Possess strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with persons at all levels.
Demonstrate knowledge of safe construction practices.
Strong knowledge of current building and construction codes.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Attend job meetings as required.
Comprehensive understanding of ProCore project management software and Microsoft Office programs.
B.S. in construction is strongly preferred
Groom Construction, a well-respected and growing privately held general contractor located in Salem, MA, is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent capable of managing commercial projects up to $25M. This position requires on-site supervision and coordination of all field operations required to successfully complete projects on-time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial construction experience, preferably within the greater Boston market; will have an established track record of completing projects in the $5M - $25M range; possess strong leadership and communication skills; have a strong safety record and knowledge of OSHA regulations; and be a proven and dependable team player.
Implement and enforced safety policies – strong understanding of OSHA regulations; lead project safety meetings, ensure compliance by subcontractors and suppliers, etc.
Maintain daily construction log and oversee onsite safety program.
Work closely with Project Manager to oversee and facilitate project schedule
Provide strong leadership to project team, including subcontractors, vendors, architects, owners, etc.
Adhere to project schedules to ensure that milestones are met.
Manage oversight and retention of all document relevant to the project.
Conduct weekly “Tool Box Talks” meetings with all personnel working on-site.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years construction management experience, leading a variety of commercial construction projects in the $5M - $25M range.
Current MA Construction Supervisors License
OSHA 30 certified
Knowledge of current building and construction codes
Strong organization, communication (verbal and written), and problem-solving skills.
Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office programs and ProCore project management software
Fixture Installers will work on retail construction projects throughout the county. Applicants must have the ability to travel for a minimum of 3-4 weeks at a time; have previous fixture installation experience; a valid driver’s license; and basic carpentry skills. Experience with finished carpentry, tiling (VCT and/or ceramic), painting, drywall, framing (wood or metal stud) is a plus. Applicants must carry themselves in a professional manner and must be able to work in a team environment.
Perform Fixture Installations and construction related tasks within retail stores on a nationwide basis.
Work closely with other installers, Superintendents, Project Managers, and personnel from retail stores, subcontractors, and other general contractors.
Adhere to project schedules to ensure that milestones are met
Ability to travel for 3-4 weeks at a time
Ability to work day, nights, and weekends, as required.
Previous fixture installation experience
Basic carpentry skills – experience with finished carpentry, tiling, painting, drywall, laminating skills, carpet installation, etc. is ideal.
OSHA 10 certification – those not currently certified will be required to become certified prior to being deployed on a project (Groom will cover all costs)
Fork Lift & First Aid certifications

Groom Construction is a premier construction company with over 40 years of experience. We specialize in residential, commercial, tenant fit-outs and retail construction projects including ground-up building, remodeling, retail rollouts, etc. We are expanding our team and looking to hire experienced lead carpenters and if you have site supervisor skills, that is a huge plus.
5+ years’ experience in multi-skilled carpentry
Able to perform physical tasks common to lead carpenter positions (lifting items up to 100 pounds, kneeling, bending, standing, climbing, repetitive motion, use of hand tools, etc.)
Possess valid State Driver’s License, good driving history and dependable transportation
Own your own hand tools
Journey level skills
Ability to communicate effectively to direct a crew
