Groom Construction Completes Three First Horizon Bank Renovations in South Florida
Groom Construction recently completed renovations at three First Horizon Bank locations in South Florida, adding to the company’s growing portfolio of banking and financial construction throughout the state.
The projects included a 3,161-square-foot branch in Key Largo, a 2,381-square-foot branch in Pinecrest, and a 3,305-square-foot branch in Homestead. Each location received a comprehensive renovation designed to update the customer and employee experience while incorporating new finishes, building systems, and banking infrastructure. Gensler served as the architect for the projects.
Modernizing the Branch Experience
Across the three locations, Groom’s work included replacing office-front walls with new storefront glass, installing new flooring and paint, completing ceiling replacements, and installing new lighting and diffusers. New restrooms were also incorporated into the renovations.
Beyond the visible improvements, the projects included underground electrical and plumbing work to support the updated branch environments. These infrastructure improvements required careful coordination within the existing buildings while preparing each space for its new finishes, equipment, and technology.
Groom also provided oversight and coordination for the installation of new millwork, furniture, bank equipment, IT, and security systems. These specialized components are an important part of banking construction, where technology, security, customer experience, and day-to-day operations must all be considered throughout the construction process.
The recently completed South Florida branches also mark a continuing relationship between Groom and First Horizon. Groom has been awarded an additional First Horizon project in Orlando, Florida, with construction expected to begin soon.
Experience Built for Banking
Bank construction presents a unique set of challenges. Whether renovating an existing branch or constructing a new location, financial institutions need spaces that balance security, accessibility, technology, customer experience, and operational requirements.
Groom has developed extensive experience navigating those demands for national, regional, and local financial institutions.
From preconstruction through closeout, Groom’s banking capabilities include ground-up construction, existing branch renovations and remodels, corporate office build-outs, drive-through lanes and site improvements, ATM installations and replacements, and ADA accessibility upgrades.
That experience allows Groom to support clients not only on individual projects, but also as their construction needs grow into additional locations and markets.
Local Presence, National Capabilities
With headquarters in Naples, Florida and Salem, Massachusetts, Groom Construction combines the resources and experience of a national general contractor with dedicated teams that understand the needs of their local markets.
For banking clients, Groom’s approach centers on the fundamentals that drive successful construction: budget, safety, knowledge, schedule, and communication. Whether completing a single branch renovation, a ground-up location, or supporting a client as its construction program expands, Groom provides the experience and coordination needed to deliver dependable results.
